I'm starting to look in to the "economic feasibility" of another summer in Croatia and planning out a route of places to visit... I found that geocaching is picking up in Croatia too! Should be fun! If I go, I plan on stashing some crap for people to find and looking for crap others stashed :) Hopefully I won't find any landmines :( It freaks me out to see those UN mine field warnings in some of the out of the way towns. Scary stuff!!

Let's kick this up! Post your thoughts and ideas for Croatia 2005!!

  • Yeah, tell me about it...I think it will be depressing seeing the town I grew up in torn apart. I have mixed feelings about it, but most of all excited. I'm going to Zageb in June/August, can't. fucking. wait. !!!

What town is that? I I drove through Gospic last year and it was so eerie... I hope to be able to stop in some spots this summer. Some of the less popular cities are so amazing! Phenominal history!
      • So which out-of-the-way cities would you recommend? I was supposed to go to Varazdin last year, but got more involved with visiting friends and relatives in Zagreb, so never made it out there.

Basically any of the towns in between the ones that everyone has head of... Everyone traveling the country tends to drive the coast line, but if you take the interior roads there is a lot of cool little towns you pass that are nice to check out and spend some time in.

Last year, driving to Plitvice National Park, we came across this farmer that had an old WWII plain sitting right next to his barn. Costmetically it was in nice shape and it was really surprising to find out there.

This summer I want to keep a journal of all the little towns and list the places we go and the GPS coordinates so I can easily share it with others. I am very primitive when it comes to directions, I know the 4 directions and I can point and grunt in a couple of languages so in the end I get there but I can't tell others how to.

Are you going this year? I am in the process of booking now. I can't wait. I may actually get to Zagreb this year if they finished the highway... If the did, it should only be about 1 1/2 hours from Rjieka I'm told.
